Ossuary & more

September 14, 2014

The Bone Church of Kutna Hora dates from the 13th century, its popularity for a place of internment being the result of an abbott sprinkling the exterior grounds with some soil from the Holy Land. The interior - chandeliers, columns, and other elements consist entirely of bones. It is a strange experience, made even stranger by the tourists taking selfies while posing in coy manners in front of the skeletal remains.

Nearby the Bone Church is a Philip Morris International factory and small museum on the history of tobacco. Strang justaposition.
